The surgery can be performed on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia with sedation or general anesthesia. The procedure usually takes 3 to 4 hours and you can go home at the very same day of the surgery. It takes 5-7 days to return back to the normal activities and 4 to 6 weeks to resolve the swelling completely. The overall social downtime is 6 to 8 weeks.
What can Brow Lift Surgery Accomplish?
Many people start to notice at a certain age that their brow has fallen or slightly descended, causing distinct lines to form and even worse, causing their facial expression to appear angry. This condition in which the brow hangs over your eyes may also negatively impact your vision. Also known as forehead lift, a brow lift minimizes the creases that develop across the forehead, or those that occur high on the bridge of the nose improves what are commonly referred to as frown lines; and repositions a low or sagging brow.
There are approximately four fingerbreadths of forehead before the hairline. The forehead should be smooth without horizontal wrinkles. If there are wrinkles during contraction of the forehead then it is normal. There should be no frown lines or creases between the eyes at rest. Sometimes a high forehead is considered attractive in females adding an open exposed look to the face.
You can measure the width of your forehead by four fingerbreadths. Relax completely your face for 30 seconds.

The forehead can be restored to laying flat without wrinkles at rest. The hairline can be altered. With surgery it can be raised easily or lowered less easily. The contraction of muscles around the wrinkles can be eliminated. The surgeon may have ask you to make a series of facial expressions so he can best see exactly how to help you.
Any one or combination of the following conditions may indicate that you are a good candidate for a Forehead Lift :
The forehead lift is the most common technique performed to improve the forehead and the eyebrows. In this process the skin of the forehead is lifted up. After the entire forehead skin is elevated, the muscles between the eyebrows that make the frown lines are usually cut so that this area of forehead no longer creases. This alone will greatly reduce the depth of the lines. Next, there are several processes that can be performed to weaken the wrinkle creating muscles. Usually the muscle is cut into a checkerboard pattern, which greatly reduces its strength, or strips of the muscle may even be removed. At the end, the surgeon may remove a strip of excess skin near the incision and sew the skin closed
When your procedure is completed, your forehead may be taped and your head may be loosely wrapped to minimize swelling and bruising. A thin tube may be present to drain any excess blood or fluid that may collect under the skin. Initial wound healing may take 5 to 10 days, at which time any sutures or clips will be removed. You will be ready to return to work and normal activity at this time. Healing will continue for several weeks as the swelling dissipates and incision lines refine and fade and it may take several months for your complete recovery.
