The procedure is always performed under general anesthesia and takes 3-4 hours. You’ll need to be wear an elastic bandage or support bra to minimize swelling and support your breasts as they heal. You will likely to feel little discomfort in raising your hands, some bruising, swelling and mild pain right after the surgery which will subside in next 5-7 days.
The overall social downtime is one week as all the normal office type activities can be resumed after 2-3 days and patient can start light exercise 2-3 weeks after this procedure. It takes 4 to 8 weeks to completely recover & resolve the swelling.

A breast augmentation in combination with a lift may last approximately two to four hours, depending on the complexity of the procedure and surgical technique that is used. Your doctor will most likely administer general anesthesia in which you are asleep during the procedure. The doctor will make an incision along the predetermined line in which a small incision will be made along the inframammary fold of each breast. Using a cautery device, the doctor will open the incision in order to gain better access to the breast tissue below. Although the incision will be made as inconspicuously as possible, its length and appearance may vary depending on the type and size of implant, your body contours, and the surgeon’s preference. With the aid of a breast dissector and their fingers, the doctor will then carefully create a pocket in which to place the breast implant and insert the implant into the pocket then visually inspect your breasts to ensure that they are symmetric and the desired look is achieved, the incisions are closed after that. For Breast lift, a round incision is made around the areola and a V-shape incision just below it. Using a variety of surgical instruments, the physician lifts the skin and separates it from the underlying tissues below. The areola and nipple are left intact, as the areas of surrounding skin are removed. Then the doctor will suture the uppermost perimeter of the areola to the outermost perimeter of the incision. In doing so, the areola and breast tissue are lifted to a new, more upright position.
You will be instructed to wear a support bra for a few weeks, until the swelling and discoloration of your breasts diminishes. Generally, stitches will be removed in stages over a period of approximately three weeks, beginning about one week after surgery. You may notice that you feel less sensation in the nipple and areola areas. This usually is temporary. It may, however, take weeks, months or even more than a year before sensation returns to normal. Your breasts may also require some time to assume a more natural shape. In many instances, you can resume most of your normal activities, including some form of mild exercise, after several weeks. You may continue to experience some mild, periodic discomfort during this time, but such feelings are normal.
