Lip correction is a quick, in-office procedure that can be performed under local anesthesia with or without sedation. You can go home on the same day of your surgery & resume the normal activities right away. It takes 1-2 weeks to resolve the swelling completely.
Augmentation / Enhancement:
Full lips are often associated with youthfulness and it is not uncommon to see the lips thin down as we age. Cosmetic lip augmentation consists of the enhancement and reshaping of otherwise normal lips to improve their appearance in relation to the patient’s facial structures. Lip augmentation can produce a marked improvement in your appearance but its effective and safe use requires thorough understanding of facial anatomy and appropriate choice of material or filler.
The Procedure (view the procedure in 3-D animation)
Though a variety of temporary or long lasting fillers are available in the market, your own Fat or Dermis of Skin is the best filling material for lip, which last for life long & without any allergic reaction or foreign body side effects. Hyaluronic Acid (Restylane, Juvederm) is a natural substance found in our bodies. It is well suited to plump thin lips and it may also be appropriate for some surface wrinkles around lips. Artificial fillers can also be used for lip augmentation. Sometimes augmentation of the lips requires multiple injections to distribute the filler for enhanced lip fullness and to raise or define a cupid’s bow (the middle portion of the lip), which has the upturn or vermillion border the red part of your lips.
This procedure can help men and women desiring –
- Slightly fuller lips
- Correction of asymmetry of lips
- Larger, more voluptuous lips
- Improvement in the appearance of sagging upper lip
- Lips with enhanced volume and pout
- Correction of wrinkles around the lips
Oversized and bulky lips can be reduced to aesthetically pleasing size & shape by Lip size reduction surgery. This requires incision inside of the lip and the extra bulk of tissue is removed. After the surgery, your lip may remain swollen for few weeks, but ultimately it settles down to desired shape & size. You have to keep your head end elevated for few weeks after surgery for rapid recovery of swelling. After healing the scar is invisible (hidden at inner side of lip).
Initially there will be mild swelling or bruising, temporary redness or an “over-filled” appearance to the treated area. This should quickly subside to reveal your full and plump lips. These conditions can be alleviated or reduced with icing and will improve within a matter of hours or just a few days.
Lip enhancement procedures by any method provide immediate results. The result of artificial fillers should last for up to six months to one year (depending upon the filler being used) after which time you may need a top-up to maintain the volume. If you choose not to repeat the treatment, your appearance will return to its original condition. But the result of Fat injection or Dermis will be lifelong.
